INTEGRATE: Theatre, education and creative expression at Domokos Correctional Facility
The programme
INTEGRATE was a European project that used drama and theatre to strengthen social inclusion and educational opportunities for incarcerated adults. Organisations from Greece, Italy, France and Romania collaborated, exchanging methodologies and practices for theatre in correctional settings.
The project combined in-person theatre workshops with digital documentation and the development of the Intelligent Collaborative Drama and Theatrical (ICDT) Tool, creating a shared repository of theatrical and audiovisual material.
APICCO at Domokos Correctional Facility
At Domokos Correctional Facility, APICCO worked with a group of 12–15 incarcerated adults. The process developed through creative writing and script-development workshops followed by a theatre workshop based on Process Theatre methodology.
From workshop to creation
Participants created theatrical scenes, short videos and a collective theatre presentation. Material produced during the workshops contributed to the project’s digital repository and audiovisual outputs.
Theatre as a space for participation
The work approached theatre not simply as performance, but as a space for participation, communication, collective authorship and creative expression within the correctional environment.
